Oh, dear. I just wanted to alert readers to a stunning piece of writing from the California-based Pajamas Media website.

If you thought there were some fruitcakes in the anti-Israeli community this side of the Atlantic, you ain’t seen nothing yet. Click on the link above, and be amazed…

  1. Jonathan Hoffman Says:

Yet another example of normally intelligent people parting company from their brains where Israel is concerned.

  2. Paul Freeman Says:

Robin, nothing should surprise us any more about the anti-Israel front, neither their villainy nor their suicidal stupidity.

A few years ago, at a conference in London, I listened open-mouthed as Denis Fernando of the Lesbian and Gay Coalition against Racism, sharing a platform with, among others, Tariq Ramadan, launched an attack on Irshad Manji, the openly lesbian Muslim reformer, because she supported — yes, you’ve guessed it — Israel.

Fernando’s performance, I suggest, was even more bizarre than the present case, and it’s worth spending a few moments deconstructing it.

Fernando, oblivious to the fact that in a Muslim country he and his coalition would be imprisoned or killed outright, was attacking a leading proponent of the rights of gays and lesbians in Muslim countries on account of her support for Israel — support she gives precisely because, amongst other things, Israel upholds the rights of gays and lesbians. And Fernando makes this attack in the name of “anti-racism” on behalf of the Palestinians, whose unashamedly racist demand it is that their future state be ethnically cleansed of Jews. (A demand, we need to remind ourselves, all those who condemn Jewish “settlements” accede to).

Unfortunately, it has to be said, there are Jews who mirror this suicidal inanity. Because of their religious anti-Zionism, in 2006 members of Neturei Karta embraced Ahmadinejad while he was telling the world that their relatives did not perish in the Holocaust and just as he was promising another one.
