Hezbollah preparing way for mass assault on Israel. Europe opts for appeasement.

According to a report in the Times (of London) today, the Lebanese based terror group Hezbollah has stockpiled 40,000 missiles over the last three years, some capable of hitting Tel Aviv. Brigadier-General Alon Friedman, the deputy head of the Israeli Northern Command, was quoted by the paper as saying that war could break out “at any minute”.

It is not hard to see what might be at work here. Hezbollah, an Iranian proxy, could be activated by Tehran to divert attention from the brutal repression in that country following the disputed elections. Any attempt by Israel to knock out Iran’s nuclear facilities could also result in a Hezbollah attack. Of course, Hezbollah is committed to Israel’s destruction and might now feel that it is sufficiently strong to launch an attack of its own volition. In any event, the situation is clearly extremely dangerous.

So what are Western countries doing about all this?

The United States is still holding the line, refusing to talk to Hezbollah and thus give it legitimacy. Britian, by contrast, opened talks with the so-called “political wing” of Hezbollah earlier this year. France has also held talks with Hezbollah officials as has the European Union’s foreign policy supremo Javier Solana.

It requires a special kind of myopia to fail to understand Israel’s predicament in the Middle East. To be talking to Hezbollah even as it arms itself to the teeth looks more and more like siding with the enemy.

Sadly it will all be the Jews fault the minute Hesbillah fires its first rocket at Israeli civilians…where the only outcry from the West and its media will be to condemn Israel for its disproportionate response.

Further more, Hesbullah will once again drag Lebanon in to a conflict it doesnt need to be a part of.

Clearly for those with half a brain can see that the problem here isnt Israel, no the problem is Hesbullah.

If war breaks out I hope that Israel would respond with all the fire power at her disposal and with the greatest brutality. No more half measures this time.
