Islamo-fascists on the American campus: Israeli ambassador shouted down in scenes all too familiar in Europe
For those that have not yet seen the appalling events that took place at the UC-Irvine campus in California on Monday, watch this video of Israeli ambasador to the US, Michael Oren, trying to give a speech. I am rarely lost for words, but all I can say is that this is absolutely terrifying…
Click here for the video which is inside an editorial in the Jerusalem Post (and have a stiff drink at the ready). The second of the two videos featured is the one to watch if you don’t have time to watch both:

Thanks for sharing that, Robin. I watched that with a mixture of profound fear and extreme anger. We expect fascists in Europe – to see them on an American campus is even more disturbing. The university in question must make a stand and publicise that stand. We must not be subjugated by these evil people.

This is total breakdown. Anyone who was a student or lecturer who acts in this way at that meeting should face disciplinary action. Ultimately they should be asked to leave the University if they do not abide by the University’s code with a first ban not to be allowed to attend extra-curricular activities for a year (everyone is entitled to one chance, and then to be chucked out of the college for a second offence.
Whist I do not advocate a total ban on such protest (however unpalatable), as opposing views should be allowed to be aired within defined protocol, but to simply go there to disrupt meetings is incitement to cause violence and certainly undemocratic and the University should not waste time debating the issue. If a student takes the University to Court, let him/her explain it to a judge why he has a right to be offensive and why his or her rights should prevail over other students who prefer to attend and listen.A line has to be drawn in the sand.
Robin, you say you are lost for words, but there isn’t much to say. I am furious and indeed the last chapter of your excellent book is no mere prophetic muse regarding the US, it is very real. The disease is spreading rapidly.

The Jpost article left out some crucial aspects. Protesters were screaming ‘Kill the Jews!!’

Watching this video made my blood cold. The sheer venom of these people is staggering. The authorities could see and hear them. Why were they not taken out of the hall as soon as they started to create a disturbance? It makes no sense.
Added to this shameful display of hate, ignorance and malice is the Oxford University students, one of whom has actually been arrested for shouting ‘slaughter the Jews’ to Danny Ayalon. Will he be charged with a racist offence? Unlikely.
These incidents are not unique. This is happening at all campuses throughout the UK. Does it happen to any other race of speakers? Would a Sudanese, Chinese, Sri Lankan academic or ambassador have to be so humiliated and insulted in this manner?

UC Irvine already has a dreadful reputation as a hotbed of Islamofascism.
I’m delighted to see however that 11 people have been arrested following the shameful exhibition, including Mohemed Mohy Eldeen Abdelgany, the president of their Islamic Society. Let’s hope they throw the book at him, and the rest of his vicious little gang of Islamist bullies.

Things are much worse at my alma mater Cambridge University, where, after a sit-in at the Law Faculty last year by 100 students and non-student agitators, the proctors (university police) agreed to their demands to provide a minimum 10 university places to non-meritocratic Palestinian applicants in order to end the sit-in. Not sure if this has, in fact, been put into operation.
