Prepare for media onslaught as Freedom Flotilla approaches Gaza

Sailing for terror
So get ready for a veritable firework display of grievance mongering, as “victims” from dozens of countries howl about their “oppression” at the hands of the dastardly Israelis. And by “get ready” I mean prepare to point out that giving succour to Gaza means giving succour to its rulers, Hamas — a terror group which openly parades its Protocols of Zion style anti-Semitism and is devoted to the destruction of Israel. Morally speaking, the attempt to break into Gaza is the equivalent of attempting to bust the sanctions imposed on Apartheid South Africa. Now there’s an apartheid analogy about the Middle East that Israel’s opponents will not be using this week.
And in addition to reminding the world of just how deplorable the actions of these people really are, it would also be worthwhile to follow the example of Abraham Cooper (writing in Ynet today) who has enumerated some inconvenient truths about Israel and Gaza thus:
“For starters,” he argues with reference to what the western media should be doing, “it can tell an indifferent world what actually entered Gaza legally from Israel just this last week of the “siege”: 637 truckloads, consisting of 14,069 tons of humanitarian aid.
“Among the goods for Gaza civilians were 810,209 liters of heavy duty diesel fuel; 21 truckloads of milk powder and baby food; 897 tons of cooking gas; 66 truckloads of fruits and vegetables; 51 truckloads of wheat; 27 truckloads of meat, chicken and fish products; 40 truckloads of dairy products; 117 truckloads of animal feed; 36 truckloads of hygiene products; 38 trucks of clothing; 22 trucks of sugar and 4 trucks of medicine and medical equipment.
“In addition to that, 781 medical patients and accompanying individuals from the Gaza Strip crossed into Israel to receive treatment in various hospitals and 191 staff members of international organizations crossed into the Gaza Strip, and 202 crossed back from Gaza.”
Pretty impressive, especially when you consider that this is all being done by Israel for a people that wants to destroy it. As Cooper adds, it would also be appropriate to remind the world of what was emanating from the Palestinian territories before barriers and sanctions were fully in place. Here is Cooper’s (partial) list:
** June 1, 2001 – 21 killed and 120 Israelis – mostly teenagers – wounded outside a Tel Aviv disco.
** August 9, 2001 – 15 people were killed, including 7 children, and 130 injured in a suicide bombing at Sbarro’s in downtown Jerusalem.
** December 1, 2001 – two genocide bombers detonated explosive devices on Jerusalem’s Ben Yehuda’s pedestrian mall on a Saturday night. A car bomb exploded nearby 20 minutes later. Ten people were killed, including many children, and 188 were injured.
** February 16, 2002 – A suicide bomber deliberately targeted Jewish children sitting at a pizzeria in the town of Karnei Shomron. Three children died and over 30 were wounded.
** March 9, 2002 – A suicide bomber kills 11 people and injures 54 in a crowded Cafe in Jerusalem
** March 27, 2002 – At a Passover Seder in a Netanya hotel, a genocide bomber belonging to Fatah’s al-Aqsa Martyrs detonated an explosive device, killing 30 and injuring 132, including many children and elderly.
** January 5, 2003 – 23 people were killed, and more than 80 were wounded when two Palestinian murderers blew themselves up near the old Tel Aviv bus station.
** June 11, 2003 – Sixteen Israelis were killed and more than 100 were wounded when a homicide bomber, dressed as an ultra-Orthodox Jew, detonated his explosives belt on a bus in downtown Jerusalem. Palestinian terrorists have attempted 11 homicide bombings and murdered 23 Israelis in the last 4 days, since Palestinians “accepted” the international “roadmap for peace.”
** January 15, 2004 – Two Israeli soldiers, a border policeman, and a security guard for a private manpower company, were murdered by a female suicide bomber at the Erez Gaza crossing.
** September 1, 2004 – Two suicide bombers exploded almost simultaneously on two buses in central Beersheba, killing 16 innocents and wounding dozens.
It all puts things in some perspective, doesn’t it? Which is precisely why the BBC and company will not be mentioning it.

But the Gazans are starving to death!
IDF sends 14,000 tons of aid to Gaza
‘Fuel, gas, food, hygiene products and medical supplies transferred.
Over 14,000 tons of humanitarian aid were transferred from Israel into the Gaza Strip last week, the IDF announced on Tuesday in its weekly summary of COGAT operations.
“A total of 637 truckloads, consisting of 14,069 tons of humanitarian aid, were transferred into the Gaza Strip from Israel via the various crossings,” read a statement by the IDF Spokesperson.
According to the statement, the shipments consisted of hundreds of thousands of liters of fuel; 21 truckloads of milk formula and baby food; 897 tons of cooking gas, 66 truckloads of fruits and vegetables; 51 truckloads of wheat, 27 truckloads of meat, poultry and fish; 40 truckloads of dairy products; 117 truckloads of animal food; 37 truckloads of hygiene products; 22 truckloads of sugar; and 38 truckloads of clothing and shoes.
In addition, 781 medical patients [from] the Gaza Strip crossed into Israel and the West Bank along with their chaperones for medical treatment. Into Gaza, meanwhile, went four truckloads of medicine and medical equipment.
Aside from humanitarian and medical supplies, 191 staff members of international organizations crossed into the Gaza Strip, and 202 crossed from the Gaza Strip into Israel.’

Interesting how the media is IGNORING the fact that there was a counter-flotilla, a collection of scores of boats, loaded with Israeli protesters who organized the flotilla oh their own, through – GET THIS – a Facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/Beldavash?v=wall&story_fbid=112986775411425#!/group.php?gid=125224290822508 -in hebrew).
The flotilla is the brainchild of Dr. Guy Bechor who headed the fleet himself.
The would-be-sailors flew flags and posters regarding both this “international” flotilla’s true reason (internal Turkish politics), signs regarding the kidnapped Israeli soldier – Gilad Shalit, remains of quassam rockets and so on.
This SHOULD and NEEDS to be more public, yet seems to be seriously downsized by international media, despite having the news-networks informed.

It is awful what is going on in Gaza.
Isn’t it?
Last week Hamas demolished houses that Gazans have been living in for 50 generations. And Hamas has started to tax cars brought in using the tunnels.
The a new Olympic swimming pool has been built. (So I am told).
I often wonder how it would be if all the Gaza residents were magically transported to Darfur and a similar number of Darfurians transported to Gaza. Somehow I feel that the Darfurians would see Gaza as a veritable paradise on Earth with their very own UN agency there to make sure that they were always watered and fed.
As to the Gazans in Dardur – the old saying – absence makes the heart grow fonder.

. With the flotilla set to depart soon, John Ging, the UNRWA chief in the Gaza Strip, called on the international community to lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip by transferring supplies by sea. Ging said he believes that despite the naval blockade, the Israeli navy and air force will not confront European ships, and that human rights organizations have done it before and proved that it is possible. Referring to the statement, a UN spokesman announced that the UN does not intend to use naval routes for transferring aid, adding that the UN is working with Israel to transfer aid by land (AFP, May 4,
No surprises from the UN : this going to turn into a propagandafest-with Israel damned if it does and damned if it doesn’t.
I would like to know why Turkey has involved itself so actively in this aid shipment : what are the motives ? An attempt to curry favour with the religious lobby ?

Wendy – Turkey has it’s feet firmly inside the Iranian/Syrian camp. Iran & Syria both support Hamas. Hamas is involved in the organisation of this ‘ship intifada’, as they are calling it.
Simples.

“Turkey has it’s feet firmly inside the Iranian/Syrian camp.”
As does the Guardian newspaper.

While those “freedom fighters” in providing moral support for the regime in Gaza take their Mediterranean cruise in comfort on the Freedom Flotilla, how many of them will be giving a fleeting thought to the actions carried out in the last month in the name of justice where five Gazans have been executed with formal sanction from the Strip’s Hamas rulers, three of them shot to death in front of the families of their victims just last Tuesday with their bloodied bodies unceremoniously dumped at the local Shifa Hospital.

An interesting post about Turkey’s involvement and the possible consequences.

It is ironic that the world expects Israel to aid a people whose government is fighting against Israel, especially since cross-border aid could always be sent in via Egypt.
That is the point that Israel should emphasize.
I don’t think Israel should blockade Gaza by sea, although given that there hasn’t been a formal declaration of war. And the propaganda value for the anti-Zionists is tremendous.
I think Israel should do nothing but defend its borders with Gaza, period. Then its position would be unassailable.
One other point: What does 14,000 tons represent for a population of some 1.5 million? Is it really a lot? Or just a pinprick? If it’s the latter, don’t over emphasize the amount of aid, since anti-Zionists will easily shoot that down.

The “Freedom Flotilla” should go to Haiti to provide aid to people sleeping on the ground in leaky tents, not to the UNRWA supported well-fed residents of Gaza. But of course, there are no Palestinians in Haiti, so it is of no media benefit to the Israel haters.

“** February 16, 2002 – A suicide bomber deliberately targeted Jewish children sitting at a pizzeria in the town of Karnei Shomron. Three children died and over 30 were wounded.”
Wanna bet everyone how this would look like on the BBC, Guardian (of the terror-brigades of Islamic jihad, Hamas, Hizb-ut-Tahrir etc.) and Independent?
A safe bet:
** February 16, 2002 – A suicide bomber blew himself up killing 3 settlers in the illegally occupied West Bank settlement of Karnei Shomron.

For the last some six years since I’ve been reading the JPost and its deputy managing editor’s Caroline Glick’s columns every Friday and now again after one year (since she has more time to write after last year giving birth to a baby) on Tuesdays perhaps the one published today is the most arresting. Her ferocious and relentless assault on the forces of darkness may have never before been more compelling.
I suggest to everyone to read it.

(Btw the forces she chastizes and warns against are the *exact* same people who are pulling the strings in the management boardrooms – and indeed, editorial offices – of the BBC, the Guardian, the Independent – well, mainly – and who puff themselves up at the British Foreign Office, at the haplessly named “Liberal Democrats” – also financed by Islamofascist pro-terrorist sources as we now know, and throughout many other capitals in Western Europe and Brussels. This way gets the picture rounded.)

Robin Shepherd says: Just to let regular readers know that I’m letting the following comment through simply to remind myself of why I do what I do on this subject.
The people of Gaza are starving.
I cannot believe your inhumanity. I understand and sare your criticisms of Hamas – but surely you recognise that a mother suicide bomber is responding to the starvation of her children; the atrocities that they have to suffer at being expelled fron their lands; the surveillance, the oppression, the checking, the pleading, begging, starving, dying that woul never be endured by the Isaeli people without international outrage.
If yoy believe in God, then believe in helping the innocent victims of this inhuman apartheid.

Stephen Bennett deserves ten out of ten for emotion, but zero out of ten for knowledge.
I hope this Mr Bennett isn’t the football referee, because if that’s his level of judgement, then the Premier League is in deep shite.

No doubt you are cheering at the Israeli’s killing the peace protestors today.

Derek – read this and in particular watch the second video clip …

These people belong to a new peace-activist group called “Violent Hamas Supporters for Peace”. Their main form of peace protest involves stabbing with knives and crushing skulls with metal rods.
They got what they deserved. I’m not happy but I’m not crying either.

Robin, with regard to your interesting post:
1) From your figures, it appears clear that the prison guard Israel is feeding, clothing and medicating its prisoners. So? This is the minimum to be expected, not something to be touted as humanitarian aid. Does the US get extra-special praise for the quality of the food at Guantanamo?
2) Do you have any more figures. I was so enjoying your list, but your figures end in 2004. I have a new one for you, though: 1,400 Palestinian killed, 13 Israelis in the Gaza Conflict. Since you’re into body counts, that should be in there, I think.
For the perspective, so to speak.
Oh, and if you don’t approve the comment, I’d appreciate a private mail telling me why.
If you do approve it, I’d honestly appreciate an honest response.
Cheers,
Ed
