Why the nose-dive in Britain’s relationship with Israel? My op-ed in today’s Jerusalem Post

Readers will have to excuse me for a little self-promotion today. In my defence, though, my op-ed in today’s Jerusalem Post (see link at the bottom of this entry) is an attempt to pull back from the subject matter I have been focusing on here in the last few weeks and talk about the bigger picture. Why has Israel been taking such a beating from Great Britain in recent months? Things have been bad for years. But why precisely has it suddenly become so much worse?

I offer five suggestions which, when taken together, should, I believe, provide some pointers.

Great article, thank you. More on the theology behind the Israeli Apartheid “Gospel” here: http://tiny.cc/qGp7Z

For the Jews of Britain, the prospect of increasing anti-Semitism against this backdrop is all too real. The darkness is closing in.

And there is a large group in Britain that will not shrink in using gross violence against Jews. It has happened in France, and it will happen in Britain. The media that helped to setup the climate of anti-semitism in Britain, will shed crocodile tears, at the same time “understanding” the reasons why a peaceful group of people such as the RoP, were provoked into action by the inhumanity of Israel.

Thank you for a timely article.

Soon Britain will break diplomatic relations with Israel prompting retaliation by outraged pro Israel citizens in America. Is that what the chattering classes in the U.K. really want? Churchill must be turning over in his grave.

By the way British relations with Israel were not exactly warm when the appeasing leftist twins Olmert and Livni were running the show so blaming it on Netanyahu is deceitful and disingenuous (by the way the British seem to have no problems with Abbas, Haniyeh, Masshel and other rejectionists). Britain it seems just has problems with Israeli Jews.
As someone who for years defended Britain against IRA terror supporters and rabid Anglophobes in the Irish community in New York,in a way I feel betrayed.
